Most of the hand sanitizers in the market are based on alcohol. Alcohol-free herbal products have a growing market. CSIR-NBRI has developed a herbal combination comprising essential oil emulsions as hand sanitizer which gives germ-free skin of the hands. The selected essential oils were mixed in different ratio in a biodegradable hydrogel base, and formulated to develop acceptable gel-based formulation which is useful in killing germs including bacteria, fungi and others. Know-how has been transferred to M/s. Satguru Biological Pvt. Ltd., Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh.
