CSIR-CIMAP Research Centre in Hyderabad organized a one-day awareness program as part of the CSIR-Aroma Mission, Phase-III, for 40 participants. These participants were selected by the Department of Agriculture, Government of Telangana from the 4th batch of Diploma in Agricultural Extension Services for Input Dealers (DAESI) 2023-24 from Mahabubabad District, Telangana. The program aimed to educate the participants, who are agricultural input dealers and also farmers, about alternative crops like medicinal and aromatic plants, and to provide them with hands-on experience of new agricultural technologies at the field level. During the program, the agricultural input dealers were provided with information about the research and development activities and extension work conducted by CSIR-CIMAP. They were also taken to experimental farm fields where they were shown various crop varieties developed by CIMAP and were briefed about the production techniques and uses of these varieties. Additionally, they visited pilot-scale processing units, including essential oil distillation units and herbal extraction facilities. The participants were also given an overview of the processing of medicinal and aromatic plants and how the quality of the products is evaluated on a laboratory scale.
