The CSIR-CIMAP Research Centre, Hyderabad organized a three-day 'Skill development-cum- training program on MAPs from November 12 to 14, 2024 under the CSIR-Aroma Mission, Phase III Project (HCP-0007). About 40 participants from Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Kerala, Maharashtra and Puducherry attended the program.
Dr. Prabodh Kumar Trivedi, Director, CSIR-CIMAP, during the inaugural ceremony, delivered the keynote address on the current status of medicinal and aromatic crops, highlighted the achievements of the CSIR-Aroma Mission, and encouraged participants to consider cultivating medicinal and aromatic plants (MAPs) as alternative crops for dry and infertile lands.
On the first day of the program, Drs. A.C. Jnanesha, N.D. Yogendra and B. Shivanna discussed the production technologies for MAPs (Lemongrass, Palmarosa, Tulsi, Vetiver, Rosemary, Citronella, Ashwagandha, Senna & Kalmegh etc.) and Er. G.D. Kiran Babu discussed about essential oil production techniques. Additionally, a field demonstration of MAPs plantation was conducted.
On the second day, November 13, 2024, of the 3-Day Skill Development and Training Program organized under the CSIR-Aroma Mission (HCP-0007) by the CSIR-CIMAP Research Centre, Hyderabad, Dr. Channayya Hiremath discussed production technologies for Geranium, Patchouli, Damask rose, Davana, and Eucalyptus citriodora. Dr Sudeep Tandon deliberated on the Extraction Techniques for High-Value Aroma Absolutes, Herbal Extracts and Phytomolecules from Aromatic & Medicinal Plants, while Dr. NP Yadav presented Herbal Formulations Developed by CSIR-CIMAP. Additionally, Er. GD Kiran Babu conducted a practical demonstration of essential oil production technologies using pilot-scale distillation units.
On the third and final day, 14th November 2024, of the 3-Days Skill Development and Training Program, organized by the CSIR-CIMAP Research Centre, Hyderabad, under the CSIR-Aroma Mission (HCP-0007), Phase-III, Drs J Kotesh Kumar, Sudeep Tandon, and KVNS Srinivas, delivered lectures on Value Addition of Medicinal Plants, CIMAP Processing Technologies and Quality Analysis and Value addition of Essential oils, respectively. Dr NP Yadav demonstrated the Preparation of Herbal Gel using Essential oils. In addition, a popular lecture on Medicinal Plants for Human Health was delivered by Dr Kondapalli Narasimha Reddy, Retired Additional Director, AYUSH and an interactive session with Mr Madhav Reddy, trader of MAPs was arranged followed by a valedictory function/Certificate distribution
