Rajasthan is an agrarian state, where 80% of the total population resides in rural area and is largely dependent on agriculture as the source of their livelihood. The weather is arid and hot. Large portion of terrain is dry. Droughts are common in Rajasthan and the state has experienced some severe droughts in last few decades. Some drought-tolerant crops like rosagrass and lemongrass were introduced into the dry rain-fed regions of the state. By organizing four awareness programmes, about 100 farmers of the state were participated. In 2017, more than 100 hectares of area has been brought under cultivation under the mission.
