Three-Day Training Programme Conducted for Karnataka Farmers at CRC, Bengaluru

A three-day training programme was conducted on "Improved Production Technologies of Aromatic and Medicinal Plants & Aromatic Oils" exclusively for Karnataka farmers at CSIR-CIMAP Research Center, Bengaluru from 28th-30th December. On the first day of the programme, Prof. Vasundhara from GKVK presided over the programme. Dr. Alok Kalra, Chief Scientist, CSIR-CIMAP Lucknow briefed about the Aroma Mission activities. Shri Harlalka from Nishant Aroma, Mumbai shared with the participants about the marketing potentials in aromatic crops.

 

During the valedictory session, Dr. Kalra delivered a lecture on organic farming while Dr. Vivek Babu, Sr. Scientist CRC-Bengaluru, briefed about the herbal products developed by CSIR-CIMAP. In addition, the distillation of Eucalyptus citriodora through Clevenger and FDU was demonstrated to the participants. Shri. Harlalka told the participants about the various parameters in distillation whereas Dr. Gopal Rao, Ex-Chief Scientist, shared his knowledge on essential oils. An interaction session between Karnataka progressive farmers and Mr. Madhu from Vajram Aromatics was also arranged.

A total of 58 farmers and entrepreneurs participated in the training.
